This is a preowned 4-piece ranger belt buckle in sterling silver, signed with stamp ‘June Defarito’, that comes as part of a preowned leather belt. June Defarito is described by many different galleries as a Navajo silver artist. Note: I have also seen this same artist’s signature interpreted as ‘June Delgarito’ and ‘June Defauito’ and rarely ‘Jereme Degarito’ (though Jeremy Delgarito has a very different signature). All describe this artist as a ‘Navajo artist’. It is unusual for jewelry from this artist to not be marked ‘sterling’ — in fact every other piece I examined had the sterling mark. While it looks like sterling, I also confirmed it by chemical test. All other jewelry I have found for this artist has been marked ‘sterling’. This item includes both the 4-piece belt buckle and a brown/red ‘Caballo New Mexico’ leather belt that fits waists approximately 38″ to 41″. Important notes about the condition, please also see photos for more detailPreowned condition. Both the buckle and the belt show signs of wear. Buckle shows tarnish, has not been polished. The buckle is not marked ‘Sterling’ or ‘925’ but has been confirmed as .925 through silver chemical testing. This was purchased at a secondhand store in California; a copy of the tag is in the photos. The store marked ‘$200 on the inside of the belt in silver ink.
